Manchester United lost at home to 10-man Manchester City on a miserable derby day for the Red Devils.

Manchester United slumped to a humiliating defeat at home to 10-man Manchester City despite playing 67 minutes with an extra man. The noise levels at Old Trafford surged after Phil Foden was shown a straight red card in the first-half following an incident with Bruno Fernandes. The United captain went unpunished despite committing a similar offence to the one which saw Foden punished.
But Michael Carrick's side were disappointing while City improved massively after Foden's red card. Erling Haaland controversially put the away team into the lead on the hour mark after a mistake from Patrick Dorgu. Haaland's goal was initially disallowed for offside but was later given as a goal after a VAR check. The Red Devils managed only one shot on target between the 23rd minute and the 69th minute and simply didn't do enough in the final third despite twice hitting the post and creating a late one-on-one for Bryan Mbeumo deep into stoppage time.

Good positioning to cover up for an early Diogo Dalot mistake but couldn't do anything about the goal. Great save to push Enzo Fernandez's shot on to the post.
Great first-half run into the box but couldn't bring Bruno Fernandes' pass under control. Made a mess of defending against Antoine Semenyo and gave City encouragement with his mistakes. But his cross should have been headed in by Bryan Mbeumo.
Played some nice passes but saw too much of the ball from a United perspective and struggled to defend large spaces at times. Booked for clashing with Enzo Fernandez.
Thwarted an early Erling Haaland chance after Bruno Fernandes gave the ball away and largely OK but like Maguire, simply had far too much possession and was repeatedly too slow to get the ball forward.
A daft second-half mistake allowed Haaland to score and ultimately win it for City. The Norwegian was initially flagged offside but after a VAR check it turned out Dorgu was the one who played him on.
Hit the post with a brilliant curling effort from range and loads of defensive contributions. Could have done with moving the ball faster at times but United's best player.

Won plenty of his duels and more line-breaking passes than any other United player. His substitution was a surprise although
Good combination play to set up a half-chance for Tielemans in the first half but otherwise too quiet until he headed a good chance wide in the 73rd minute. His poor pass almost released Iliman Ndiaye for a late City counter-attack and with United's best chance of the game at the death, he couldn't beat Donnarumma. He just had to score.
A couple of clever first-half balls over the top which United couldn't take advantage of. Owes Martinez a thanks for bailing him out after almost setting up Haaland. Very lucky to get away with kicking Foden before the City man retaliated. Was always central to United's best moments and almost set up Mbeumo for a last-gasp equaliser.
Looked really hungry and hit the post with a stunning free-kick attempt but his overall end product was poor.
One wild shot well wide and drilled another shot just over second half. Worked hard but like Rashford, his end product was underwhelming.

Tried to give United a focal point up top. Carrick took too long to throw him on.
Tried one cute through ball into Sesko that was cut out.
