MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Green Bay Packers controlled Sunday’s game for about 35 minutes, before the Minnesota Vikings scored 29 straight points behind backup quarterback Carson Wentz, handing Green Bay a 39-22 loss and its sixth straight defeat.

Players react to fourth-quarter collapse
Packers quarterback Jordan Love said the team didn’t execute late when they needed.
“I feel like, you know, throughout the game there was a couple missed opportunities for sure where we really could have took advantage of some ops and a couple we didn’t do,” Love said. “I thought we were playing well. I think coming that fourth quarter, it really just took a turn with a couple misfortunate plays.”
Tight end Tucker Kraft said the team needs to rely on its own execution rather than outside factors.
“Everyone just needs to realize like this coaching staff, front office, they handpicked every individual that put their pads on today,” Kraft said. “We’re here for a reason. So we need to go out there with that confidence and just play football. Rely on our keys, our techniques to take us to victory, not waiting on a ref to bail us out with a call or a DB slipping and hitting some long freak shot. So we need to realize that it’s us versus us all the time. Teams can’t beat us as long as we’re locked down. I mean, you saw that momentum swing was due to our own fault. We allowed that to happen.”
Right tackle Zach Bako-Bewele pointed to two second-half plays that shifted the game.
“Put more points on the board,” Bako-Bewele said. “I think twice in the second-half. After Jonnu Smith had that big play, we had a chance there and then we ended up with three. Then we had the 4th down that we didn’t convert on. You know, that’s two plays right there that really saw the momentum of the game.”
Wide receiver Christian Watson said the Packers could not regain their footing once the game turned.
“Taking advantage of that momentum, things were clicking, everyone was out there playing fast, all 11 were, executing their job,” Watson said. “And, I said it before, when the momentum was going the other way, we just couldn’t find a way to regain it.”
Coach cites penalties, execution
Head coach Matt LaFleur said the loss was a shared responsibility across the team.
“Coaching, playing, like it’s all of us,” LaFleur said. “We got to do a better job of trying to put our players in position. And then when we are in position, we got to execute and we got to play cleaner, cleaner football. Far too many penalties tonight.”

The Packers outgained the Vikings 419 to 239 in total yards. Green Bay was penalized 12 times for 98 yards, went 1 for 4 in the red zone and turned the ball over twice.
The Packers, now losers of six straight games, play next week in New York against the Jets, who beat the Titans 23-10 on Sunday.
