Chelsea could receive several significant injury boosts before Friday night’s Premier League trip to Brentford.
Xabi Alonso has been without Moises Caicedo, Marco Palestra, Jordan Henderson and Emmanuel Emegha during the opening weeks of the season.
None were available for Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Hull City, but Brentford has now emerged as a possible return date for all four players.
Alonso’s latest official Chelsea team-news update confirmed the Blues were unwilling to take another risk with Caicedo against Hull, while Henderson and Emegha were also being targeted towards Friday’s west London derby.
The more and more you watch Chelsea, you appreciate Caicedo, That guy was masking a lot of defensive atrocities
I call him the Bull for a reason, Kasongo without the eyeeyeye
That’s why it annoys me when people say this guy is just a shin kicker, he controls the game VERY… pic.twitter.com/oLaQjsCeGF

Moises Caicedo could return against Brentford
Caicedo remains Chelsea’s biggest fitness question.
The midfielder has endured a frustrating start to the campaign after missing the opening two matches through injury.
He returned against Brighton but lasted only 14 minutes before being forced off with another problem.
Chelsea have consequently taken a much more cautious approach with his latest recovery.
Alonso confirmed before Hull that Caicedo was training but was not yet ready to return.
The Chelsea head coach specifically identified Brentford as the next fixture to assess.

Caicedo’s return would provide a major boost.
Chelsea have struggled for defensive control without him, and Friday’s derby could provide the first opportunity for Alonso to restore one of his most important midfielders.
Marco Palestra enters final stage of recovery
Palestra is also moving closer to his competitive Chelsea debut.
The summer signing suffered a quad injury shortly before the Premier League opener against Fulham after impressing throughout pre-season.
Alonso has now revealed that the Italian is in the final stages of his recovery.
The defender could be available against Brentford, although Chelsea will not rush him if Friday comes slightly too soon.
Alonso told Chelsea’s official Marco Palestra fitness update that if Palestra does not make Brentford, he should be ready for the following match against Bournemouth.
That represents the clearest return timetable Chelsea have provided since his injury.
Palestra has yet to make a competitive appearance for the Blues despite emerging as one of Alonso’s standout performers during the summer.
Henderson and Emegha targeting Chelsea debuts
Jordan Henderson and Emmanuel Emegha could also finally become available.
Both summer arrivals are still waiting to make their competitive Chelsea debuts after injury disrupted the beginning of their seasons.
Neither was ready to face Hull.
However, Alonso said Chelsea hope both can be available against Brentford, although their progress will continue to be assessed throughout the week.
Emegha’s return would provide Alonso with another natural centre-forward option, while Henderson would increase competition in midfield.
Chelsea therefore have four significant fitness situations to monitor.
Moises Caicedo: Brentford is the next possible return date.
Marco Palestra: In the final stages of quad recovery; Brentford possible.
Jordan Henderson: Chelsea hope he can return against Brentford.
Emmanuel Emegha: Chelsea hope he can return against Brentford.
Friday therefore has the potential to look very different for Alonso’s squad.
Chelsea travel to the Gtech Community Stadium at 8pm BST on Friday 18 September, with the club’s official fixture schedule confirming the Friday-night Premier League derby.
