Liverpool have 'enquired' about a move for Roma and France midfielder Manu Kone, it has been claimed. The 25-year-old was a target for Chelsea in the summer transfer window after impressing for France at the World Cup, but he remained at Roma beyond the deadline and has since started their first four matches this season.
Kone could still leave Roma in the future, though.. According to the Italian media outlet tuttomercato, Liverpool have asked about the Frenchman and could make a more 'determined' move in the coming months.
Roma resisted a late push from Chelsea in the final hours of the transfer window, including an £51.5million offer and it's added that the Blues are expected to make another move in January.
However, Liverpool want to compete alongside Chelsea to land Kone's signature and strengthen their midfield after not signing one in that position during the summer.
They sold Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic, but instead looked to the attack with Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola coming in as well as adding a centre-back as Ronald Araujo arrived on loan.
When asked about Kone's future following the end of the transfer window, Roma sporting director Tony D'Amico said: "I said it would be difficult for us to deprive ourselves of important players so near to the end of the transfer session, and that proved to be the case. Kone is an important player; we're happy that he remained with us."

As well as Kone, the Reds are long-time admirers of Monaco's Lamine Camara, another midfielder Chelsea tried to sign in the summer. However, Monaco pulled the plug on a move for him at the 11th hour.
Liverpool have made a mixed start to the 2026/27 season. They sit seventh in the Premier League table, having won just one of their four matches so far. But the Reds have also not lost, drawing the other three. In the Champions League, Andoni Iraola's side made a winning start to the league phase, beating Atletico Madrid 2-1 last week.
But they were unable to follow that up with a 0-0 draw at home to Fulham on Saturday. While the Reds had some chances, they didn't create enough to score and were frustrated with a point at Anfield.
"I think what was lacking was quite clear," Iraola said post-match. "I think it's the first game since I'm here that we've had problems to create chances to score goals, to make the difference offensively.
"That's the main reason that we couldn't create as many chances as we wanted. We haven't scored a goal and that's why we go with just one point."
