Liverpool dealt massive blow in chase for€50m defender

Liverpool made four new signings during the summer transfer window as they aimed to fine-tune their squad under Andoni Iraola.

However, they still have a lot of work to have a squad capable of competing on all fronts and are expected to be active in the upcoming transfer window.

It goes without saying that the Reds could do well with another versatile defender at the back due to injuries to Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez.

And now, reports from England confirm they have been dealt a massive blow in their pursuit of Pierre Kalulu.

Caught Offside report that Juventus have no intention of selling the Frenchman, who is valued at around €50m.

Interest from Manchester United is described as serious, while fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Kalulu is capable of playing a handful of roles at the back and could certainly have been an intriguing option for the Reds, given his recent form.

However, if they want someone to reinforce their back line in January, they will have to look elsewhere, as the Serie A giants’ stance seems pretty straightforward.
