Liverpool return to action on Tuesday having managed only one win from their opening four Premier League matches this season.
A goalless draw against Fulham at Anfield on Saturday came a week after Liverpool ended their winless start to the campaign with a 2-0 victory at Ipswich Town, Andoni Iraola’s first league win since taking charge.

Bradley Barcola made his first Premier League start against Fulham, lining up alongside fellow summer signings Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, but none of Liverpool’s expensively assembled front line could find a breakthrough.
Attention now turns to the Carabao Cup, where Liverpool host a visitor also searching for answers in front of goal.
Tottenham Hotspur arrive at Anfield for Tuesday’s second-round tie off the back of their own goalless stalemate, a 0-0 draw at home to Everton that left Roberto De Zerbi’s side without a Premier League win, and without a Premier League goal, after four matches.
De Zerbi confirmed after the Everton game that he intends to make widespread changes to his starting eleven for the trip to Merseyside.
“Now we play Tuesday in Liverpool and we play with all other players, but it will be a very important game for us,” De Zerbi said.
“We can improve playing in the games, we can improve during the week.”
Tottenham have taken just two points from their opening four league fixtures.
De Zerbi has also been candid about his squad’s physical condition, admitting after the Everton draw that his players are currently unable to sustain his high-intensity approach for a full 90 minutes.
Liverpool and Tottenham’s last meeting came in March, when Richarlison’s late equaliser earned Spurs a 1-1 draw at Anfield in the Premier League, a result that secured Igor Tudor his first point as Tottenham’s interim boss at the time.
