The latest Spurs injury news ahead of their EFL Cup tie with Liverpool - including updates on Pedro Porro and Destiny Udogie.
Tottenham Hotspur may not have scored a Premier League goal yet this season, but they have at least managed to find the back of the net in the EFL Cup – and their reward for putting five past Charlton Athletic in the second round is a tough trip to Anfield this Tuesday evening. To make it even tougher still, Spurs will also have to navigate some fresh injury issues.

Spurs were handed a double blow in the build-up to the goalless draw against Everton when head coach Robert De Zerbi announced that both Destiny Udogie and World Cup winner Pedro Porro had sustained injuries during training.
“Pedro Porro felt a small muscular problem,” De Zerbi told the media. “in this moment I don’t want to take any risks. The same [for] Udogie… “We have to manage also Destiny in the best way we can.”
There are no indications that either have suffered serious injuries, and De Zerbi suggested that it was more a matter of managing the pair’s minutes following Porro’s long summer and Udogie’s numerous fitness issues last season.
As it stands, however, there are no indications that either will train fully ahead of the trip to Liverpool, and the likelihood is that neither are risked. Both appear more likely to make their comebacks against Aston Villa in next Saturday’s Premier League fixture instead.

Alongside Porro and Udogie, four more first-team players are likely to miss the match on Merseyside, among them new signing Mykhaylo Mudryk, who is expected to be out for around six more weeks due to what De Zerbi described as a “stupid” ankle injury.
The Ukrainian, who hasn’t played competitive football for over 18 months after being suspended for alleged doping violations while at Chelsea, reported pain in his ankle shortly after joining Spurs and is now expected to be sidelined until the end of October.
He will be joined on the sidelines by both Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert, both of whom face lengthy recoveries after suffering knee ligament injuries. Odobert is expected to be targeting a December comeback, while Simons is unlikely to be involved until early spring.
There is also no sign of Dejan Kulusevski, who missed the entirety of the 2025/26 season due to injury issues. The Swede missed training last week due to what De Zerbi described as “the normal problem when one player is out [for a] long time.” It is still hoped that the winger will be available again at some point in the next month or so.
James Maddison, meanwhile, made his comeback from a shoulder injury from the bench against Everton and could be in line for more minutes on Tuesday.
