The Mike LaFleur Era for the Arizona Cardinals is off to a great start. In their very first game under the first-time NFL head coach, the Cards took care of business on the road, taking down Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood to the tune of a 26-14 score.
It is indeed a great day to be a Cardinals fan, especially with a win that happened in enemy territory and against a team widely viewed as a playoff contender in the form of the Chargers.
Arizona quarterback Jacoby Brissett ran the offense admirably from under center for his team, as he finished with 277 passing yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 27/37 pass completions.

Among Brissett’s top go-to guys downfield was someone perhaps not many people expected to have a big afternoon, both from a real-world and fantasy football perspective.
“I’m pretty sure none of y’all had him on your fantasy team,” Brissett said after the game on the huge performance of Cardinals wide receiver Kendrick Bourne (via Theo Mackie of AZ Central).
The 31-year-old Bourne is a new addition to Arizona, having signed a contract in March with the NFC West franchise after spending the 2025 NFL season with the San Francisco 49ers. Last season, Bourne only had 551 receiving yards with zero touchdowns on 37 receptions and 53 targets in 16 games for the Niners, but there seems to be a different energy now for the former Eastern Washington football star.
Meanwhile, Arizona was led downfield in Week 1 by star tight end Trey McBride, who turned nine catches and 13 targets into 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
