Liverpool are set to take on Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield in the third round of the Carabao Cup tomorrow.
Andoni Iraola is expected to heavily rotate his starting XI, with most of his players looking jaded after their 0-0 draw against Fulham on Saturday.
Heading into the season, Hugo Ekitike, Giovanni Leoni and Joe Gomez were the long-term absentees for the Reds.
And now, Iraola has confirmed that Gomez will be in the squad tomorrow after training for well over a week now.

“Joe [Gomez] is training with the team and is available for tomorrow,” confirmed Iraola in his pre-match press conference.
“It’s a matter of deciding how much he can play.”

Gomez hasn’t played any minutes since the first game of pre-season, so the Carabao Cup is the perfect opportunity for him to get some game time under his belt.
We think he will be stationed as a centre back alongside Ronald Araujo, with Feremie Frimpong and Kostas Tsimikas occupying the full-back roles.
Add Giorgi Mamardashvili – who Iraola confirmed will start tomorrow – and that’s the Reds’ backline vs Tottenham.
If Gomez gets back to his best and remains fit, Liverpool will have another option to use across their backline as the England international has done a handful of roles in his long Anfield career so far.
