Cowboys Fans Notice Same Worrying Thing About Dak Prescott After 'Unacceptable' Interception 1

The Dallas Cowboys entered their season opener with a defense they believed was retooled and ready. Instead, the unit collapsed in the fourth quarter, and the team didn’t do quarterback Dak Prescott any favors either.

The New York Giants beat Dallas 28-20 at MetLife Stadium. Along with the defense, Prescott is facing backlash of his own after a throw into double coverage before halftime turned into an inexplicable interception, with fans highlighting a frustrating pattern they’ve seen from him before.

Dak Prescott’s interception raises eyebrows

With the score tied 7-7 right before halftime, the four-time Pro Bowler tried to throw the ball away to avoid a sack. He didn’t get enough power behind it, and Giants safety Jevon Holland made a diving catch right along the sideline to force the interception.

Prescott admitted after the game that the turnover changed everything. “The interception before half… that was crucial,” Prescott said. “I’m trying to throw the ball away. (Holland) made a hell of a play. I’ve got to make sure it’s out of bounds, though. I was surprised. One I’d want back, obviously.”

He has a well-documented history of double-digit interception seasons and costly turnovers in critical matchups. While he threw just 10 interceptions last season, fans recognized the old, frustrating habit of Prescott forcing risky throws under pressure. The mistake stalled their momentum right before the half, and once the defense fell apart later on, Dallas simply couldn’t recover.

Fans react to Dak Prescott’s costly pick

For many fans online, the costly mistake felt like a movie they’ve seen a hundred times.

One fan wrote, “This is unacceptable, man. What was he even thinking there?”

Another added, “New season, same old Dak.”

A third viewer penned, “Dak couldn’t even make it to halftime of the first game without throwing a pick.”

One user posted, “Yea, good idea throwing that ball. Double coverage,” referencing the pressure Prescott was under on the play.

Another fan wrote, “Why he aint just throw it out.”

Prescott finished 22-of-34 for 175 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, good for an 84.9 passer rating. He threw touchdown passes to CeeDee Lamb and Javonte Williams, who also scored on the ground. Instead of blaming only Prescott, coach Brian Schottenheimer pointed to the broader momentum shift right around halftime that put Dallas in a hole.

“This is a humbling business, and we got humbled tonight,” Schottenheimer said. Dallas hosts Washington next Sunday, desperately needing to clean up both sides of the ball.
