NBA: Finals-Toronto Raptors at Golden State Warriors
Two and a half months after it was agreed upon in principle, the Kawhi Leonard trade back to the Toronto Raptors is back on. The LA Clippers have finally agreed to complete the deal, just hours after owner Steve Ballmer released a statement saying that he has accepted the NBA’s punishment for the alleged Leonard secret funds scandal.

Clippers general manager Trent Reddon led the team’s communication today with Toronto to get the blockbuster finalized, according to Jake Fischer. The teams are scheduling an official trade call with the NBA.
There were no changes made to the original terms, which included two unprotected first-round picks, one first-round pick swap and two second-rounders going to the Clippers, in addition to Brandon Ingram and Gradey Dick.
Kawhi has already been working out with Raptors players in an unofficial minicamp in Miami. Additionally, Ingram and Dick have already been using the Clippers’ training facilities.
Kawhi to sign two-year extension in Toronto now that the trade is complete
The next big order of business for the Raptors is to complete a two-year extension with Kawhi. It could be worth up to $126 million. He is back with the team that he won a championship with in 2019, and the team that tried desperately to re-sign him in free agency that summer before he left for LA.
When word began to emerge earlier this offseason that the Clippers were ready to move on from Leonard, he made it known that Toronto was the only place that he would sign an extension with. He has one year remaining on his current deal, at $50.3 million.
The Clippers gain a couple of key first-rounders in the trade, getting back a couple of the five firsts they were stripped of in the league’s punishment announced 13 days ago.
