Andoni Iraola is expected to rotate his starting XI when Liverpool host Tottenham in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night, with the Reds having looked jaded during last weekend’s goalless draw with Fulham.
Joe Gomez could return after training last week, although he was not involved against Fulham. Iraola said: “He is training with the team.

“I think he’s going to be available for tomorrow and now it’s a matter of deciding how much he can play and what is the best thing to do.”
Federico Chiesa and Giovanni Leoni are expected to return to training during the September international break, while Conor Bradley remains sidelined.
Iraola added: “I think he (Conor Bradley) is not close to training with the team. He’s training alone but he has started touching the ball.
“Definitely I want him as quick as possible ready but it’s a long-term injury. I think [Giovanni] Leoni is a little bit ahead of him and still it’s going to take some time for Conor, yes.”
Liverpool have also outlined a potential return timeline for Hugo Ekitike following his Achilles injury. Several youngsters were left out of Liverpool Under-21s’ squad for Monday’s trip to West Ham United, potentially paving the way for involvement against Tottenham.
Lewis Koumas, Luke Chambers, James McConnell and Lucas Pitt were among those absent. Jayden Danns, however, started for Rob Page’s side after being an unused substitute in last week’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.
Mor Talla Ndiaye, Will Wright and Wellity Lucky also started, while highly-rated Josh Sonni-Lambie was among the substitutes. Isaac Mabaya also featured, having been named in Liverpool’s 25-man Premier League and Champions League squads.
Liverpool have officially confirmed that Patrik Farkas has returned to the club following a spell with Blackburn Rovers. Farkas has been included in the Under-21s’ matchday squad for the first time and is among the substitutes.
Farkas joined Liverpool’s academy from Kecskemeti TE in 2021 before moving to Blackburn Rovers a year later. He posted on his Instagram page after his exit: “My time has come to an end with Blackburn.
“I’ve met some amazing people, players over the past 4 years that has helped me grow as a person and as a player. I would like to thank everyone. Excited for the challenges that come next!”
After loan spells with City of Liverpool FC and Prescot Cables, he returned to Liverpool on an extended trial and featured regularly for the Under-21s in pre-season.
