Why Beyoncé Skipped the 2026 Emmys

Last year, after over a decade of nominations, [Beyoncé](https://www.harpersbazaar.com/celebrity/latest/a71169852/beyonce-jay-z-kids-blue-ivy-rumi-sir-details/) took home her very first Emmy. The award—Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming—recognized her 2024 NFL Christmas Game halftime show, captured on film and immortalized as the _Beyoncé Bowl_. But despite the win, the star skipped out on the ceremony. And it looks like this year is no different.

The explanation for tonight’s absence was fairly more straightforward, given that the artist was not eligible for any awards in the 2026 season. Still, fans would have loved to see what she’d bring to the red carpet. (Her Grammys looks are always a fan favorite.)

Beyoncé was nominated for her first Emmy back in 2013, joining the lineup for Outstanding Special Class Program for her televised Super Bowl performance, the _Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show Starring Beyoncé_. Two years later, she was honored in the same category once again, this time for her collaborative concert film, _Beyonce and JAY Z On the Run_. She went on to earn a handful of more nominations throughout the next decade, including two for her beloved _Lemonade_ and several more for _Homecoming_. Including last year’s nods, she’s been recognized a total of 11 times at the television awards.

Beyoncé’s 2025 Emmy was not only an impressive win on its own, but also brought the artist closer to obtaining the coveted EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony) status. With a whopping total of 35 Grammy trophies under her belt, she’s halfway there!
