Rumors continue to fly about what the [Boston Celtics](https://nesn.com/boston-celtics) might do over the next couple of weeks to months.
With the Celtics still having multiple players they could add on both ends of the court, there's a lot to like about the possibility of this roster getting even better in the future.
However, for the Celtics to make a big-time trade, they'll likely have to move on from players fans like. One recent trade proposal would see them do exactly that with Payton Pritchard and more.
Boston Celtics receive: Cam Johnson
Denver Nuggets receive: Payton Pritchard, Sam Hauser and the most favorable 2030 second-round pick among Phoenix, Portland and Washington
“And Denver would receive more than financial relief. Pritchard could provide another ballhandler and scorer around Nikola Jokic, while Hauser could replace much of Johnson’s floor-spacing. The Nuggets would also receive a second-round pick with legitimate upside: whichever 2030 selection finishes highest among Phoenix, Portland and Washington. Boston controls that pick through the Brown trade,” Alder Almo [wrote](https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/celtics-trade-pitch-lands-43-215014408.html).
From Boston's perspective, bringing in a player like Cam Johnson is a smart move. While this is a decent amount to give up, not having to attach a first-round pick makes it much more desirable.
The former Phoenix Suns NBA Finals runner-up was a lot better during his time with the Brooklyn Nets than he was with Denver last season, averaging the fewest points per game that he has since his second season.
However, Johnson is still a big-time three-point shooter and an above-average defender, something Joe Mazzulla loves.
