The Denver Broncos' fanbase all said the same after seeing the team struggle mightily on offense against the Kansas City Chiefs: Fire offensive coordinator Davis Webb.
Week 1 did not go well for Bo Nix and the Broncos' offense, as Denver scored only 10 points against the Chiefs while the defense gave up 31. Though Kansas City has a vaunted defense, it appeared as if Denver's offense was all out of sorts, a less-than-welcome sign for a team looking to surpass its 14-win mark from last season.
At the center of the firestorm is Webb, the Broncos' 31-year-old offensive coordinator, marking the first time head coach Sean Payton had delegated the playcalling to another person. Fans took to social media to express their frustration during a game that saw ESPN temporarily experience technical difficulties.
"I’ve never been more wrong, the Denver Broncos are absolutely AWFUL and if I was Sean Payton I’d strip the offensive coordinator from play calling duties TONIGHT," one fan wrote emphatically on X.
Another wrote, "@Broncos You guys need to fire your 31 year old offensive coordinator with zero NFL experience. Disgraceful!" A third commented, "This experiment of Sean Payton turning over the play calling to new offensive coordinator Davis Webb might not last past this game. Broncos offense & play calling has been abysmal."
A fourth fan believed that, with what was observed during the game, Davis' privileges as the offensive coordinator should be rescinded expeditiously. "Fire this new Broncos offensive coordinator immediately. Put Sean Peyton back in charge of play calling," the comment read.

By and large, fans were less than thrilled to see the Broncos struggle with Webb at the helm of the offense. Against the Chiefs, the Broncos only mustered 176 total yards, with Nix completing 17-of-28 pass attempts for 131 yards with one touchdown, one interception and was sacked four times.
Star receiver Jaylen Waddle, whom the Broncos traded for, was targeted three times, hauling in one reception for two yards. Third down was an area of particular concern for Denver, converting only two of their 12 attempts, with nine total first downs for the game.
ESPN analyst and former NFL quarterback Troy Aikman had choice words for how Davis called the game, stating, "When I looked at this roster, I thought coming in, this offense should not only be better, they should be a top-five offense in pretty much all major categories at the end of the season.
"This is not what i was expecting."
Despite the struggles the team faced, Nix told reporters after the game that the players also played a part in the Broncos' performance and that they played "pretty pitiful."
He also lauded how Davis approached the game, saying, "He was, to me in the headset, he treated it like he was a pro with it," he said.
"He was like, 'Hey, next play, here we go. You got this.' He shot it with conviction.
"I thought he really, we called it exactly what we prepared for and what we wanted to get to. And we just didn't executre, and then we were behind, and I don't think we did a hwole of good, consistently enough to win the game at all."
