The Denver Nuggets have emerged as a team interested in possibly signing Cam Whitmore.
NBA insider dropped the latest offseason development around the Nikola Jokic-led Nuggets squad in his latest Substack report.
"The Nuggets, I'm told, have emerged as a team to watch in pursuit of Cam Whitmore," Stein indicated.
Cam Whitmore draws Nuggets interest
Cam Whitmore was shipped by the Washington Wizards to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of the Peyton Watson multi-team trade. But the Cavs eventually released him in the free-agent market.
Whitmore averaged 9.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 0.7 assists in 16.9 minutes in 21 appearances for the Wizards last season. Unfortunately, his time on the court was limited due to his right shoulder deep vein thrombosis diagnosis (blood clots), which cut his year short.
The Houston Rockets drafted him with the 20th overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Nuggets eyeing younger piece in Cam Whitmore
Cam Whitmore is the latest name linked to the Denver Nuggets.
The title-contending team has taken a significant offseason retooling amid the exits of Peyton Watson, Tim Hardaway Jr., and Jonas Valanciunas, tapping Alpha Diallo, Lonnie Walker IV, Marvin Bagley III, and former NBA star DeMar DeRozan.
Whitmore's potential addition should give the Nuggets a youthful presence and energy to their veteran-laden squad.
