The quarterback leaned on his legs early, capping the opening drive with a 15-yard rushing touchdown that answered any immediate concern about his mobility.

Mahomes finished 15 of 27 passing for 184 yards, two touchdowns and one interception, a rusty but effective showing against a Denver defense that led the league in sacks a year ago.
The bigger story belonged to new running back Kenneth Walker III, whose Chiefs debut turned into a breakout. The Super Bowl LX MVP rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns, including a 60-yard burst that put the game out of reach in the second half.

Mahomes silences doubts after rocky preseason buildup

By fall, Mahomes had sent a clear message about the questions surrounding his leg.
