Arsenal contacted Pro Ref on Monday asking for a meeting about the penalty given against Ezri Konsa at Sunderland. John Brooks gave it for Konsa grappling with Dan Ballard under a long throw. Arteta's word for it was "unacceptable at this level".
They won the game 2-0 and David Raya saved the thing, which makes this the right week to complain. Nobody can call it an excuse. Do it after a defeat and it reads as a manager reaching for a reason.
The Villa strand is the one I'd watch. [The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2026/sep/14/arsenal-pro-ref-sunderland-penalty-meeting-explanation) reckons Arsenal will also bring up the penalty they weren't given at Villa Park, which turns one grievance into a pattern the club wants explained. Given Konsa cost £51m from Villa last month, he's now the centre of both halves of the argument.
You won't get much from a meeting like this. You get a club on record, and a note in the file.
Ipswich away in the League Cup tonight. Four league games, four wins, and a squad Arteta has been rotating hard since Naples.
Kim Little is now Arsenal's all-time WSL record appearance holder. That's the standout from a fortnight where the women's side have drawn 0-0 at home to Palace and looked short of ideas against a low block. Little has been at the centre of that team through every version of it.
Køge at home in the Champions League a week on Tuesday. A finishing problem is a lot easier to hide in the league phase than it was against Palace.
Out on loan: Gale scored at the World Cup, and Nwaneri and Setford both won.
