Seven years, a generational NBA scandal, and one ruined franchise later, Kawhi Leonard is with the Toronto Raptors again. The trade is finally happening: Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two first-round picks, first-round pick swaps, and two second-round picks to the Los Angeles Clippers for the one and only Kawhi.
What a journey. The teams agreed to the deal in June, but then waited out the NBA investigation into cap circumvention, after which Leonard left the Clippers in flames. Five first-round picks, gone. The owner suspended for a year, the director of business operations for a year, the GM for six months. A $30-million (U.S.) fine, though money is the least of L.A.’s problems.
