Liverpool have confirmed the signing of 19-year-old Hungarian midfielder Patrik Farkas, who rejoins the club at U21s level after four years away with Blackburn.
Farkas, whose brother Erik is part of Liverpool U18s, initially joined Liverpool from Kecskemeti TE in 2021, but after a single season he moved on.
After coming through the ranks with Blackburn, including loan spells with local sides City of Liverpool FC and Prescot Cables, he left on the expiry of his contract this summer.
That led to an offer from Liverpool, and after an extensive trial which began early in pre-season his transfer is now official.
Liverpool confirmed his registration ahead of Monday’s 1-0 loss to West Ham U21s, with Farkas making the bench for the first time in a competitive game.
Farkas was not called upon by Rob Page but is expected to be regularly involved as the campaign goes on, particularly as he is able to cover a variety of positions.
Though a natural midfielder, the teenager is also capable of playing out wide and even filled in up front during pre-season with the U21s.
It remains to be seen if he will work his way into first-team contention but the understanding is that he will be considered an academy player as it stands.

There are high hopes for Erik Farkas, who only turned 17 earlier in September and has scored two and assisted one in his first two games for the U18s this season.
The younger Farkas brother agreed a scholarship deal in the summer and is expected to put pen to paper on his first professional contract in the near future.
Liverpool U21s could be considered unfortunate to lose on Monday night, with the game decided by an 85th-minute attempted cross from Joel Kerr which looped over Bailey Hall and in.

The young Reds had 10 shots on goal to the hosts’ five, with four on target to one, and the attacking trio of Jayden Danns, Will Wright and Joe Bradshaw all going close.
Danns played an hour as he continues to work towards full fitness, while Mor Talla Ndiaye made his return from a minor injury and lasted the full 90 minutes.
Alvin Ayman, the 19-year-old English-Egyptian midfielder signed from Wolves in 2023, made his U21s debut as a left-back.
