Liverpool star Jeremy Jacquet continues to impress since moving to the Premier League, with the defender firmly in the sights of Zinedine Zidane for the France squad.

Jeremy Jacquet could be in line for his first call-up to the senior France national team, with the Liverpool star seemingly having his form recognized since making the move to Anfield.
A report from L'Equipe claims that the new Les Bleus boss Zinedine Zidane has included the centre-back as part of a pool of players in a pre-selection group, with decisions to be made on the youngster alongside a host of other fringe players.
Jacquet is yet to feature for the French international side at senior level, though he has played for the age group categories from under-17s all the way up to the under-21s, having made his debut just 18 months ago. It has taken little time for the 21-year-old to settle into his place at Liverpool, following the pre-agreed move from Rennes earlier in the year that was made official this summer.
Even at such a young age for a player in his position, Jacquet has looked calm and composed on the ball, adding some defensive stability alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Liverpool certainly has the summer arrival to thank for his heroics against Fulham, with several interventions from him helping the side earn a point on an otherwise frustrating afternoon at Anfield.
Having been put on a pre-selection list for France, it's clear that Jacquet has impressed those at the top, but it remains to be seen whether his fine form will be rewarded with a full call-up, with the final squad being announced on Friday, September 18.

The path to the side is cleared somewhat by William Saliba's back injury, which could open a way through, though the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Dayot Upamecano, and Maxence Lacroix will all be battling for a place in the team in the exact same position as the Liverpool ace.
"I think he had had good performances. He is still building," Andoni Iraola recently said on Jacquet's start to life at Liverpool, as well as his fitness condition.
"The first games, he couldn't finish. Against Ipswich, he finished but he was very tired. I was very happy the other night [against Atletico Madrid] because he finished and he had no issues and was fresh. He finished quite strong.
"He is building his physical condition after a lot of months without playing. He is a player that we knew about his qualities. He is confident on the ball, he is aggressive without the ball.
"He is quick and mentality-wise, you can see he is hungry to win things, to play minutes. Obviously I am very happy with him."
It certainly marks a positive start for Jacquet, now it remains to be seen whether he can take that into the international break with France, or whether he will be watching on as he pushes for a place in the next international break.
