Luke Chambers faces a shaky future at Liverpool this term, with Celtic watching him closely ahead of January. Talk of an exit from Liverpool has grown fast this week, as per the latest transfer news. The Scottish champions look ready to make their move.
Luke Chambers becomes a Celtic target
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic have started watching Luke Chambers, and a move looks likely for January. The club lacked cover at left-back through the summer window. In fact, the **Reds**chose to keep him instead of sending him out on loan again.
Now 22, he has played just four senior games since his September debut in 2023. He has since gone out on loan to Wigan Athletic, Charlton Athletic and Kilmarnock, while also turning out for the Under-21 side in Premier League 2. He also won a Community Shield medal with Liverpool back in 2022, though he has seen few Premier League minutes.

Why Liverpool could allow a January exit
Luke Chambers has a deal that runs until next June. Meanwhile, a sale now would suit the Reds more than losing him for nothing later. Regular football has been hard to find on Merseyside of late. For that reason, a clean exit could suit the player just as much as the club. Interest from elsewhere has not gone away either, with a few English second-tier clubs still keeping an eye on him.
That loan spell at Charlton Athletic brought valuable Championship playing time last season. Still, his path back into the first team looks narrow right now. Left-back places are hard to get, and young players rarely find an easy way into a squad chasing big trophies.
Celtic’s own defence plans add pressure too, especially with injuries limiting their options lately. A settled deal in January would give both sides some clarity. Besides, it would give the defender a fresh chance somewhere he might actually play each week.
