Kudus an option from the start at Anfield

Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that Mohammed Kudus could start tonight at Anfield.

The forward, who has missed almost the entirety of 2026 so far, recently returned to first team action, making his first appearance under Roberto as a second-half substitute in last month's Premier League defeat to Newcastle United.

Making a further two substitute appearances, playing the final 30 minutes of our stalemates with Nottingham Forest and Everton, Roberto has now confirmed the Ghanaian is an option to make a first start under him as we take on Liverpool in the third round of the Carabao Cup tonight (kick-off 8pm UK).

“(Mohammed) Kudus can start, because in terms of physical condition - he's better," our Head Coach explained in his press conference on Monday afternoon.

However, Roberto also confirmed that James Maddison is not quite ready to start as he continues to get back up to full fitness.
