Don’t you dare think I can’t see you rolling your eyes at your screen right now…
Yes, despite the fact that the Miami Dolphins lost to the Las Vegas Raiders by a score of 27-13 on Sunday, marking a disappointing debut for new head coach Jeff Hafley, we will be naming a Most Valuable ‘Phin for that contest. And yes, despite the fact that the 2026 season has the potential to be one of the most frustrating years of Dolphins football in recent memory, we will be picking an MVP each and every week this season.
If that bothers you, don’t click. It’s really that simple.
However, for those who are viewing the 2026 season through the right lens, we will be finding silver linings and highlighting players who are impressing despite the organization’s current struggles in an effort to put some attention on the positives this year — however few of those may exist.
[**Miami Dolphins**](/) **Week One MVP - WR Caleb Douglas**
In his professional debut, Douglas had an historic performance — nabbing five balls for 94 yards. His receiving yards total was the most for any Dolphins rookie receiver in his first NFL game, but was also tied with Tyreek Hill (2022) for the most receiving yards for any receiver in their first game with the team in the franchise’s history.
For a player who many thought was _overdrafted_ when he was selected by new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Douglas’ debut was a delightful one to witness for Dolphins fans.
Let’s hope that he can continue to progress forward as the season rolls on, and his counterpart, Chris Bell, can begin to contribute in meaningful ways as well. Quarterback Malik Willis and the organization as a whole would be significantly better for it.
