**Chelsea** claimed their first win of the season with a 5-0 drubbing of **Manchester United** at **Leigh Sports Village.**
**The** _Blues_ opened the scoring through **Sjoeke Nüsken**, who directed **Wieke Kaptein's** cutback into the bottom corner before **Keria Walsh** added a second from range on the half hour.
**Lauren James** provided an instinctive finish to net a third after the break before full-backs **Ellie Carpenter** and **Lucy Bronze** added to the scoreline later on.
**Manchester United’s** new manager, **Eva Olid**, suffered two consecutive defeats as _United_ lost their first two games of the season for the first time since their League debut in 2019/20.
At the **Emirates**, a toothless **Arsenal** were held to a goalless draw with newly promoted **Crystal Palace**.
The _Gunners_ rattled the bar twice through **Mariona Caldentey** and **Lisa Baum**; however, it was _Palace_ keeper **Pauline Peyraud-Magnin** who starred, making nine saves.
Newcomers **Palace**, who finished second in the **WSL 2** last season, remain unbeaten, having beaten **Everton** on the opening day.
City continue impeccable start

**WSL** champions **Manchester City** continued their perfect start to the season with an emphatic 4–1 win at **Aston Villa**.
**Jade Rose** gave _City_ an early lead after _Villa_ keeper **Alana Okuma** had punched a corner into the path of the _Canadian_ international, before **Mary Fowler** drilled in a second on 29-minutes.
The hosts had halved the deficit three minutes before the break through **Amalie Vangsgaard,** but _City’s_ quality prevailed in the second half with a **Khadija Shaw** strike and a **Mathilde Harviken** own goal keeping **Jeglertz's** side at the summit.
**Birmingham City** and **Brighton** both picked up their first points of the campaign after sharing the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw at **St Andrews.**
**Brighton’s Kilo Seike** scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time to deny the newcomers a first league win of the season.
**Oceane Hurtre** and **Lily Crosthwaite** had netted either side of the break for the **Championship** winners, but **Olivia Garcia** pulled a goal back before **Seike** netted a deserved equaliser.
Newcomers Charlton remain pointless after late defeat to Everton

**Everton** secured their first win of the campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over nine-player **Charlton Athletic** at **Goodison Park.**
**Lean Robe** deflected in **Holly McNamara's** cross into her own net on 77 minutes to seal the winner in a game which saw both **Ashley Neville** and **Hawa Cissoko** dismissed for the visitors.
**Tottenham** and **Liverpool** played out a compelling 1-1 draw on **Merseyside** in a clash of two sides which are well fancied this season.
**Sam Kerr** deflected **Signe Gaupest's** looping cross beyond her **goalkeeper, Khiara Keating,** four minutes before the break, before _Swiss_ international **Aurélie Csillag** equalised for the _Reds_ on the hour.
Both sides remain unbeaten after wins over **Charlton** and **West Ham** on the opening day.
**West Ham** stunned heavy-spending **London City,** winning 2-1 in Saturday's only fixture.
Summer signing **Kelly Gago** and **Viviane Asseyi** netted either side of the interval for the _Hammers_ before **Daniëlle van de Donk** reduced the deficit on 74 minutes.
However, despite the _Dutch_ players' second backheel of the season, **Eder Maestre's** side fell to a deserved defeat.
