Liverpool and Tottenham face off in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, and oddsmakers consider the Reds significant favorites to advance to the last 16

Liverpool and Tottenham meet in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday at Anfield.
Both sides are coming off goalless draws over the weekend in the Premier League, including Liverpool’s 0-0 result at home against Fulham that left Andoni Iraola with three draws from his first four league matches as manager.
Although the third-round draw certainly could have been kinder to both teams, the Reds are considered heavy favorites to defeat Tottenham on Tuesday and advance to the last 16 of the Carabao Cup. Roberto De Zerbi’s men are yet to score a goal in four Premier League matches this season following their 0-0 draw at home to Everton on Saturday, although they did put five past Charlton in the second round of the Carabao Cup on Aug. 26.
Ahead of Tuesday’s tie, oddsmakers rate Liverpool as -250 favorites to qualify for the fourth round, while Tottenham are +175 underdogs to pull off the upset at Anfield.
In the 90-minute market, the Reds are -133 favorites to secure the victory, while Spurs are priced at +333 and a draw is +290. If the match is tied after 90 minutes plus stoppage time, there will be no extra time and it will instead go straight to penalties.
Liverpool appeared to be finding form after back-to-back victories over Ipswich Town and Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League before the goalless draw at home to Fulham burst their bubble.

Still, perhaps more so due to Tottenham’s form, oddsmakers anticipate Andoni Iraola’s side making relatively easy work of their floundering opponents when they meet Tuesday at Anfield.
While Iraola has already confirmed Giorgi Mamardashvili will start in goal over Alisson, it remains to be seen whether the manager opts for his first-choice outfield team, a group of reserves, or a mix of the two.
Five outfield players – Virgil van Dijk, Jeremy Jacquet, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz, and Alexander Isak – have started all five games so far this season, and Iraola may choose to rest one or more of them ahead of Sunday’s trip to Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Gody Gakpo missed the draw against Fulham on Saturday and is a doubt to feature against Tottenham, while Bradley Barcola could make his third successive start as he searches for his first goal for his new club.
Spurs’ potential setup remains somewhat unpredictable as De Zerbi continues to try and find his best XI following a hectic summer of incomings. Given Tottenham is not in European competition this season, it is expected that the manager fields what he considers his first-choice squad in this tie.
