Nigeria behind England and Poland in race for Arsenal's tri-national defender Egbuson

The Nigeria Football Federation face an uphill battle in the race for the services of highly-rated Arsenal youth team defender Jax Egbuson, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Egbuson qualifies to represent Nigeria at youth international level through his father, but the talented youngster is also eligible to play for England and Poland.

The teenage defender has already attracted attention from both European football associations.

Egbuson previously attended a training camp with England's U15 squad, giving the English FA an early opportunity to assess his potential in October 2025

More recently, he was invited to an event organised by the Polish Football Association at the Polish Embassy, where he met coaches and members of the Polish FA.

Nigeria will need to move quickly if they are to convince the Arsenal prospect to choose the Super Eagles pathway ahead of England and Poland.

Egbuson has seemingly kept the door open to representing Nigeria at youth level, with the Arsenal defender following the Super Eagles and star striker Victor Osimhen on social media.

The centre-back has been on Arsenal's books since February 2024 when he joined the Gunners from Watford.

Earlier this year, Egbuson signed a new contract that will keep him at Arsenal's Hale End Academy until the U16 level.
