As per Premier League rules, red cards issued in the English top-flight also apply to other domestic cup competitions, including the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, although this does not apply to yellow cards.
As a result, following Manchester City’s clash against Norwich this week, Foden will then be unavailable in Premier League action against Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, as well as the away trip to Liverpool on October 11 after the international break.

Off the back of a hugely difficult two seasons for Phil Foden, the Manchester City academy graduate has been hoping for a much more impressive and productive campaign this time around, and appears to have the full backing of Enzo Maresca and the club.
In the three Premier League matches prior to the weekend's Manchester derby, Foden has provided two assists, both of which came in the club's controlling victory over Crystal Palace and the 1-4 victory at Selhurst Park.
