Andoni Iraola is happy with Jeremy Jacquet along with his performance and fitness
As reported by Liverpool Echo, chief Liverpool correspondent Ian Doyle has shared Andoni Iraola’s views on Jeremy Jacquet’s situation. The Liverpool boss is very satisfied with the Frenchman’s performances after his start to his career at Merseyside. Moreover, the Spanish coach has given a good news about the defender’s fitness. He believes that Jacquet is very close to becoming fully fit. The youngster’s consistent good performances for the Reds have strengthened Iraola’s belief.
Andoni Iraola said, “I think he had had good performances. He is still building. The first games, he couldn’t finish. Against Ipswich, he finished but he was very tired. I was very happy the other night because he finished and he had no issues and was fresh. He finished quite strong. He is building his physical condition after a lot of months without playing.”
The manager while praising his player’s abilities, said that, “He is a player that we knew about his qualities. He is confident on the ball, he is aggressive without the ball. He is quick and mentality-wise, you can see he is hungry to win things, to play minutes. Obviously I am very happy with him.”

Jeremy Jacquet has announced himself at Anfield
Jeremy Jacquet joined Liverpool this summer window from Stade Rennais for €63.6m, according to Transfermarkt. The deal was agreed with the centre back in the last season. The young defender showcased his qualities in the Ligue 1 for Rennais. The Reds wasted no time to strike an agreement with him. However, he went through a shoulder surgery at the end of the last season. Therefore, he spent the whole summer break both resting and working hard to get his fitness back.
But now Jacquet is almost fully fit as said by his manager. He participated in one friendly match against Como in which he scored. The 21-year-old has already played 5 games for Liverpool this season, one of which is in the Champions League. But his performances suggest that he has already adapted to English football. His tackling ability, speed and ability to defend in big spaces have been shockingly good.
Liverpool have started their season in a bittersweet manner
The 2026-27 season has commenced. Liverpool have entered this new campaign with huge expectations. They have strengthened their defence by bringing Jeremy Jacquet. After departure of Mohamed Salah, they have signed Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola on that right flank paying a huge fee for the later one. But their season start does not justify their squad strength.
In the Premier League they have already played 4 games and one game in the Champions League. They won the UCL fixture against Atletico Madrid by a thin margin. But in England, they are currently sitting 7th on the table after 1 win and 3 draws. The one win came against Ipswich but they dropped points against Fulham, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
