**Liverpool returned to winning ways as they triumphed 3-1 against Tottenham in the second round of the Carabao Cup.**
The Reds took their time to get going but scored three fantastic goals on the night thanks to Alexis Mac Allister, Dom Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo, while Conor Gallagher’s goal for Tottenham turned out to be a mere consolation for the away side.
Andoni Iraola’s side fought for every tackle and looked assured despite making a raft of changes, which was an encouraging sign to say the least.
And now, the Spaniard believes Liverpool are slowly starting to play the way he wants.
“I think the game was quite different phases,” said Iraola after the game to ITV Sports via the [BBC](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/live/cm5ye2vg83q7t).
“We were pushing a lot and then went ahead, but once we were ahead, they were close to our zones, especially set pieces; we were suffering. I think we’ve been good.
