John Konchar joins the New York Knicks
John Konchar joins the New York Knicks after entering unrestricted free agency this offseason.
He and Cody Williams were traded by the Utah Jazz to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Josh Green and cash considerations. However, the T-Wolves subsequently waived him.
Konchar played 56 games for the Memphis Grizzlies and Jazz during the 2025-26 season and averaged 4.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.9 minutes per game.
He spent most of his career in Memphis after entering the league in 2019 as an undrafted prospect.
John Konchar chose Knicks over other East teams
The New York Knicks encountered significant competition in pursuing John Konchar, battling East rivals such as the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and the Toronto Raptors. Yet in the end, the veteran forward chose to join them for a major opportunity.
As one of the league's underrated role players, Konchar will give the Knicks an added hustle, defensive edge, and versatility off the bench in their chase of a back-to-back crown.
Konchar joins Andre Drummond as the Knicks' key additions this offseason.
