Following the addition of John Konchar, the New York Knicks are tapping a key free-agent big man who will compete for one of their roster spots in the upcoming NBA season.
Per long-time Knicks Insider Ian Begley of SNY, New York is signing Drew Eubanks on a training camp deal.
Drew Eubanks joins New York Knicks
Drew Eubanks spent last season with the Sacramento Kings.
Averaging 5.2 points and 3.0 rebounds on 59.6% shooting, he was limited to just 42 games following surgery to repair a UCL tear in his left thumb back in March.
The 29-year-old is an eight-year NBA journeyman who also played for the San Antonio Spurs (2018-2022), Portland Trail Blazers (2022-2023), Phoenix Suns (2023-24), Utah Jazz and the LA Clippers (2024-25).
Knicks originally pursued Drew Eubanks
Begley previously reported that Drew Eubanks was among the New York Knicks' free-agent targets. As such, this signing gives both sides a chance to work it out heading into training camp.
The Knicks have a clear need on their interior slate beyond star big man Karl-Anthony Towns and backup Andre Drummond.
The defending NBA champions have 14 players on their standard contract following John Konchar's latest addition, and that final 15th spot is yet to be filled amid the team's cap situation.
