Manchester United will look to bounce back from its weekend derby defeat thanks to Erling Haaland's goal with the visit of Brighton at Old Trafford in the Carabao Cup.
Phil Foden was sent off at the weekend, while Haaland's goal came in controversial circumstances. But Manchester City was the better side on the day and deserved to win the game.
The draw for the fourth round will be made at the end of this fixture. Liverpool will be in it, having beaten Tottenham with goals from Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, and Dominik Szoboszlai on Tuesday, securing an important win for Andoni Iraola.
In the UK, the Manchester United game — kicking off at 8 p.m. local time (3 p.m. ET) — will be shown by both Sky Sports and ITV, and on both channels' streaming services. In the U.S., it is on Paramount+.
"We’ve got to move on," Michael Carrick said when asked about the Manchester derby in his pre-match press conference.
"We have still got look after it for ourselves and we’ve got to win games. We have done, we’ve won a lot of games and we need to continue to do that and I understand it’s a new season.

Amad Diallo, Luke Shaw, and Carlos Baleba are all closing in on a return from injury. Baleba will not face his former side, Brighton, but should be back following the September international break.

On winning a trophy at Manchester United, Carrick added: "Well, there's obviously two sides to that, I suppose. For me, trophies are the beauty and the feeling of winning.
"It is what we’re in football for, what we’re in sport for. It’s certainly what I’m at this club for – to try to win. It’s not straightforward, and you decide you want to win and you go and win.
"Of course not. But it’s important. I think trophies and achieving things and giving supporters that feeling of emotion of that is important, definitely."
