The Brooklyn Nets’ star Michael Porter Jr. recently worked out with N3on, the renowned YouTuber, and recalled getting a brutal reality check about his own shooting skills when he worked out with Klay Thompson this summer.

“You know what’s crazy? Me and Klay Thompson just worked out together. I used to think I was the best shooter, but not anymore, dog,” Porter Jr. said to N3on.

“He beat me by one spot; it was close, and after the workout he was like, ‘It’s been so long since I’ve shot against someone that challenges me. And that’s how I felt, that I never get to work out with someone that challenges me,” he added.

Klay Thompson is looking to bounce back after one of the worst shooting-efficiency seasons of his career. He averaged 11.7 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while shooting 39.3% from the field and 38.3% from beyond the arc.

Both those shooting percentages are his career-worst numbers. And yet, he’s still going head-to-head and defeating Michael Porter Jr. while working out. He even made 72 consecutive three-point shots from a single spot.

Whereas Michael Porter Jr. averaged 24.2 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 3.0 assists while shooting 46.3% from the field and 36.3% from the three-point line in 2025-26.

Since his move to Miami to join the Heat, Thompson has clearly turned up the intensity and is back in his best shape heading into training camp.

The Heat have already begun team activities, including practice runs and a team trip to build chemistry. In a clip from ‘Pain Camp’ that Davion Mitchell posted on Instagram, Thompson looked nothing short of elite, even inside the paint, while going at Bam Adebayo.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Klay Thompson can still convert these shots efficiently in an actual NBA game. A change of scenery should help clear his mind as he starts a new chapter in his career.

Thompson seems determined to show everyone why he is still regarded as one of the best shooters in NBA history following a disappointing shooting season. He appears confident heading into his first season with the Heat, based on his workout with Porter Jr. and his outstanding performance at the team’s ‘Pain Camp.’

It remains to be seen whether that translates into steady game performance, but the Heat could gain a lot from Thompson’s turnaround if he can find his shooting touch again.
