Real Madrid have officially signed Nick Smith Jr. through the end of the 2026-27 season, the club announced.
The 22-year-old guard arrives in Madrid after spending the first three seasons of his professional career in the NBA with the Charlotte Hornets and Los Angeles Lakers.
Smith played 30 regular-season games for the Lakers last season, averaging 6.2 points and 1.0 assist in 12.5 minutes per game. He shot 43.5% from the field and 39.5% from three.
Smith also appeared in six playoff games for the Lakers last season, although he played only 18 total minutes.
Before moving to Los Angeles, Smith spent two seasons with Charlotte. His best NBA campaign came in 2024-25, when he averaged 9.9 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds across 60 games, including 27 starts.
Smith was selected by the Hornets with the No. 27 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft after one season at Arkansas.
Before entering the NBA, he averaged 12.5 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists during his lone college season at Arkansas. His freshman year was limited to 17 games because of right knee management.
