‘Of course’ – Journalist makes big claim on Florian Wirtz leaving Liverpool

**A lot has been said about Florian Wirtz since his headline move to Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen last summer.**

The German international was one of the most sought-after players in world football and opted to join the Reds after rejecting interest from Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Manchester City, among other clubs.

Wirtz took his time to get going but delivered the goods for Liverpool during the second half of the campaign under Arne Slot.

And under Andoni Iraola this season, it hasn’t quite clicked for him, leading to speculation that he could be on his way out of the club in the future.

And now, German journalist Christian Falk reports that Bayern Munich would be the first club Wirtz would talk to if he decides to move on in the future, although no talks have been planned currently.

“Of course, if Florian Wirtz were, at some point in future, interested in making a return to the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich would be the first team he’d talk to,” said Falk via [CF Bayern Insider](https://cfbayerninsider.com/2026/09/bayern-make-florian-wirtz-decision-as-liverpool-stars-future-continues-to-be-questioned/).

“However, there is nothing planned. Bayern have a big squad and everyone’s feeling really confident.

“Musiala has a long contract and don’t forget that Vincent Kompany is trying a new system with Michael Olise as the fulcrum in the centre – the same position he currently plays in for the French national team.

“So, FC Bayern have a lot of options. Don’t forget, either, that it was a lot of money Liverpool paid for Wirtz.”

Granted, Wirtz hasn’t delivered the goods consistently so far, but talks of a potential departure shouldn’t even be entertained at this point. Case closed.
