Jacobo Ramon has given Chelsea another reason to revisit one of the defensive decisions they made during the summer transfer window.
The Blues showed interest in the Como centre-back before eventually strengthening Xabi Alonso’s defence with Maxence Lacroix.
Ramon remained in Italy.
Less than two months later, the 21-year-old is making that decision increasingly interesting.
The Spaniard opened the scoring in Como’s 2-1 Serie A victory over Parma on Monday, turning home Nico Paz’s delivery after 22 minutes as Cesc Fabregas’ side continued their impressive start to the campaign.

Ramon continues impressive Como development
It was not only his goal that stood out.
According to fresh analysis from Football Insider, Ramon won five of his seven aerial duels, made five recoveries and completed 16 passes into the final third against Parma.
The same analysis places him among Serie A’s leading centre-backs for several possession and defensive metrics during the early weeks of the campaign.
That progression follows an excellent first season at Como.
Ramon made 37 appearances across all competitions after leaving Real Madrid and helped Fabregas’ side secure Champions League qualification. Chelsea were subsequently reported to be considering a summer move before looking elsewhere.
Chelsea did not ignore their immediate defensive needs.
Lacroix arrived from Crystal Palace for £52million as the club’s principal defensive target, bringing Premier League and international experience straight into Alonso’s squad.
But Ramon’s continued rise remains noteworthy.
Chelsea have already conceded nine times in their opening four Premier League fixtures, and the Spaniard represents a defender they considered before those problems emerged.
That does not mean signing Ramon would automatically have solved them.
It does, however, make his performances for Como increasingly difficult to ignore.
Chelsea chose a different defensive route during the summer. Ramon is now providing the evidence that he may already have been capable of offering more than simply long-term potential.
