“A Great Signing” – Journalist Predicts Real Madrid Raid On Arsenal For Player Who Has Started Just 1 Game

Real Madrid could recruit Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi during the January transfer window, according to journalist Javi Roldan.
The El Confidencial reporter says he is confident that the 27-year-old will make the switch to the Bernabeu over the coming months:
“Zubimendi is going to be Madrid’s signing in the winter window. And, without being a great footballer, he’s going to be a great signing.”
The Spanish international only arrived at the Emirates just over a year ago, but there has been plenty of speculation regarding his future after he lost his place in the first team.

It’s been a rough start to the season for the midfielder. Manager Mikel Arteta overlooked him for the first 4 Premier League fixtures, and he was only used as a substitute in the Community Shield and the first Champions League group match against Napoli.
Arteta did name Zubimendi in the starting eleven for the first time this campaign against Ipswich Town in the Carabao Cup, but he was picked out of position. He was selected at right-back, with Mikel Merino and Bruno Guimaraes starting ahead of him in midfield.

What is the player’s stance on leaving Arsenal?
It was reported earlier this month that Zubimendi has already held talks with Arteta about his playing time. He was given assurances by the Gunners boss that he will be given plenty of minutes.
However, Zubimendi is said to have already decided that if he isn’t starting matches on a regular basis by the start of January, he will look to leave.
In addition to Real Madrid, Chelsea are also said to be admirers of the player, with their manager Xabi Alonso reportedly rating him very highly.
