The New York Knicks announced another intriguing training camp addition ahead of the 2026-27 season.
The Knicks officially announced that they have also signed former No. 2 NBA Draft pick James Wiseman to an Exhibit 9 contract.
The 25-years-old center appeared in four games with the Indiana Pacers last season, recording 3.3 points and 2.0 rebounds over 14.5 minutes.
His best season came during the 2022-23 campaign with Golden State and Detroit, when he averaged 10.0 points on 55.8% shooting and 5.9 rebounds over 19.3 minutes in 45 games.
He holds career averages of 9.0 points on 56% shooting and 5.5 rebounds over 18.8 minutes in 152 games (56 starts).
Knicks add five players on Exhibit 9 deals
In addition to signing Wiseman, the Knicks also added four other players on Exhibit 9 contracts.
New York announced deals with former NBA champion Bruce Brown, former lottery pick Ochai Agbaji, Drew Eubanks and John Konchar.
The Knicks currently have two open roster spots and sit approximately $3.2 million below the second apron.
One of the players on an Exhibit 9 deal could have his contract converted to a standard deal before the start of the season, while another may have to wait until later in the year, similar to what happened with Landry Shamet last season.
Agbaji, Brown and Konchar are expected to compete for wing spots, while Eubanks and Wiseman will battle for a place in the frontcourt rotation.
NBA salary cap expert Bobby Marks also noted that New York would likely need to shed salary in a trade in order to enter the regular season with both its 14th and 15th roster spots filled.
