Tottenham talent Mikey Moore is currently on a season-long loan at FC Koln.
Tottenham Hotspur made wholesale changes to their squad during the summer transfer window. Roberto De Zerbi oversaw 10 new signings, while plenty of players left the club.
To improve Spurs’ attacking potency, De Zerbi convinced Mykhailo Mudryk to join his forces on a season-long loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day. This only happened after academy graduate Mikey Moore’s loan deal to FC Koln was ratified.
Mikey Moore, who had an outstanding loan spell at Rangers in the Scottish Premiership last term, featured in Tottenham’s opening two Premier League games of the season, starting against Brentford and coming on as a substitute against Newcastle United. In fact, De Zerbi admitted that he would like to keep the teenage prodigy at the club, but admitted that he needs regular minutes to continue his upward trajectory.
Two Premier League clubs were prepared to sign Mikey Moore permanently from Tottenham
The England youth international is spending the season on loan with FC Koln in the hope of getting regular playing time in the Bundesliga. He has made two league appearances for FC Koln, delivering an assist on his debut in the 4-1 defeat to VfB Stuttgart. And now, it has emerged that two Premier League clubs tried to sign the Tottenham talent permanently before his temporary exit to Germany.
According to German magazine SportBILD (h/t Sport Witness), Everton and Fulham made €30m bids to sign Moore. However, the player showed no interest in evaluating offers as he felt a move to Germany on loan would be the ideal next step for his development.
Moore is already earning praise in the Bundesliga for his ability on and off the ball. Koln are also excited, believing that they genuinely have a talent who can impact games in the final third with his pace, dribbling, directness and movement. The youngster was Koln’s standout performer in the recent 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen, with him operating centrally as a No.10.
The Tottenham academy starlet has a clear plan in his mind. He rejected Everton and Fulham offers in favour of a temporary stint in the Bundesliga to hone his skills and return in 2027 with the aim of becoming a permanent member of Spurs’ first-team squad. The speedy winger sees his long-term future at White Hart Lane, and the club officials rate him extremely highly. Thus, there was no chance for Everton and Fulham to lure Moore away from his boyhood club.
