NBA: Playoffs-Minnesota Timberwolves at Denver Nuggets
After 53 years, the New York Knicks finally won the NBA Championship in 2026, and with their title defense set to begin in a matter of weeks, the team are still looking to fill out their team for the 2026/27 campaign.
During their title win, the team relied on several often overlooked players such as Landry Shamet, Jose Alvarado and Jordan Clarkson, and behind one of the best starting lineups in NBA post-season history, the team cruised to a Championship. Unfortunately this off-season, the team have lost key depth players like Mitchell Robinson and Ariel Hukporti, and while they added Andre Drummond, the team still had several roster spots open.
Now, with training camp around the corner, the team have begun adding some intriguing pieces, and on Wednesday, they announced the signing of yet another very intriguing veteran.
Bruce Brown Inks a Training Camp Deal With the Knicks

Recently, the Knicks made a few additions, adding veteran Drew Eubanks on a training camp deal while signing wing John Konchar to a one-year deal, but with several spots still remaining open, they had some more business to conduct. On Wednesday, the team made another signing official, with Shams Charania announcing on social media that New York have signed veteran Bruce Brown to a training camp deal.

The 30-year-old veteran guard just played in all 82 games with the Denver Nuggets a year ago, and in 24 minutes a night, the talented two-way guard averaged 7.9 points, 2.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game, and as a depth pickup, he’s a perfect addition for a Knicks team that relies on their depth, especially in the regular season. Obviously, the deal for Brown is a non-guaranteed one, meaning that there’s a good chance he doesn’t start the regular season with the team, but after their success in 2025/26, it’s no shock that veterans like Brown are looking to join the team this season.
Can the Knicks go Back-to-Back in 2026/27?
Last year, the Knicks simply clicked down the stretch, and with a point differential of +283 during their NBA Championship run, they solidified themselves as one of the most dominant Champions in NBA history. In Brown, the team would be getting a good, valuable role player that can slot in and provide valuable minutes off the bench, and while he’s not as impactful as he once was, if Brown survives to the regular season, he becomes a fantastic depth option for New York.
However, the focus for the Knicks will once again be the post-season, and with one of the best starting lineups in NBA playoff history, they’ll be optimistic that they can go back-to-back for the first time since the Golden State Warriors did so in 2017 and 2018. This past year though, the team relied on depth pieces, with players like Jeremy Sochan, Ariel Hukporti and Tyler Kolek all stepping up at different points, providing Brown a blue print for how to contribute to a winning team.
Ultimately, the Knicks are the best team in the East heading into a new season, and if they can fill out their roster with more valuable veterans like Brown looking to contribute, this is a team that has every opportunity to go back-to-back in 2027.
