Manchester City will face Brighton in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup provided they beat Norwich on Thursday night whilst Premier League leaders Arsenal will take on Fleetwood Town.
Liverpool will face Chelsea in one of the ties of the round having downed Tottenham on Tuesday night. 2025 winners Newcastle have landed a tie against Everton. Manchester United will again be absent for this round after their embarrassing loss to Brighton.
The Gunners made light work of Ipswich on Tuesday night and will seek to win the Carabao Cup for the first time since 1993. Mikel Arteta has fallen short in the semi-final and the final in successive years but will aim to take the final step this season.
City meanwhile have made a habit of winning this tournament and last season's success was their fifth triumph in the last nine years.
16 teams remain after this week's action, with the third round ties being played across two weeks after a fixture clash involving those involved in Champions League action.
Seven days ago Chelsea secured victory over Leeds in a nine-goal thriller and their reward is a trip to Anfield. Fleetwood Town are the only side from the fourth tier still in the Carabao Cup, their reward for seeing off Sheffield United is a clash against the Gunners.
The two League One teams still in the tournament, Bradford City and Peterborough, will face each other meaning there will be a third tier side in the quarter-finals.
