Manchester City come into the third round of the latest edition of the Carabao Cup in a rich vein of form across all competitions, and with the clear intention of retaining the penultimate trophy won by Pep Guardiola during his 10-year stay at the club.

Adding to the fine form in the Premier League, City have also started their UEFA Champions League campaign in perfect fashion, beating Portuguese champions FC Porto away from home on matchday one of the league phase.

Now, ahead of facing Philippe Clement's Norwich City of the Championship in the Carabao Cup third round at the Etihad Stadium on Thursday night, Manchester City have found out that victory over the Canaries will mean a fourth round meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion.
A possible clash against Brighton - who defeated Manchester United at Old Trafford in the third round via a stunning comeback win from 2-0 behind to 2-3 ahead - will take place at the Etihad Stadium during the week commencing 26 October.
For Manchester City, that would mean that a fourth round tie would take place after the lunchtime visit to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday 24 October, and ahead of the home meeting with Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday 31 October.
