Liverpool showing strong interest in signing 6ft 3in star to upgrade key position

Liverpool are reportedly showing strong interest in signing Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour, as per TEAMtalk.

After starting his youth career at ASD San Giacomo, the 22-year-old spent time with Brescia and Atalanta before joining SL Benfica’s youth system at the age of 16.

He made his first team debut for the Portuguese giants in 2023 but after running his contract down with the Eagles, the youngster joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.

However, Ndour struggled to find regular game time at Parc des Princes; as a result, he went out on loan on a couple of occasions to play regularly and develop his career.

Eventually, Ndour joined Fiorentina permanently last year. He initially featured as a rotational option before playing regularly this season, starting five out of six matches across all competitions.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Liverpool hold a long-standing interest in him and although they haven’t made a move yet, they are still showing strong interest in signing him.

Like the Reds, Manchester United previously expressed their interest in Ndour but have decided to revamp the midfield department by purchasing Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba this summer.

Ndour to Liverpool

The report state that Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Hull City all made enquiries over this deal this summer and remain keen on him.

Although Ndour’s existing deal is set to run until 2029, Liverpool believe the youngster could become available next year, with the player valued at around £17m by Transfermarkt.

The Italian is a 6ft 3in tall right-footed box-to-box midfielder by trait but can also provide cover in the defensive midfield position if needed. He is quick, strong, technically sound, can carry the ball from deep and tidy with possession.

Following his recent development at Stadio Artemio Franchi, Ndour has already made international debut with Italy.

The youngster is a talented player and possesses high potential. Moreover, he possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.

Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Liverpool should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Merseyside club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his service in January or next summer.
