Alexis Mac Allister's dad has dismissed speculation that the Liverpool midfielder is looking to depart due to a lack of progress on a new contract at Anfield.
Carlos Mac Allister also maintains that it is the Merseyside club's prerogative to decide when to commence negotiations over an extension, following a public expression of frustration by the Reds player last week.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch, who both arrived in the same transfer window as World Cup winner Mac Allister in 2023, were each granted improved contracts earlier this year, which contributed to the former Brighton star's remarks during a pre-match media briefing last Tuesday.
Ahead of last week's 2-1 Champions League triumph over Atletico Madrid, Mac Allister, whose current agreement expires in 2028, addressed his contractual situation, confessing he felt "very sad" that no new offer had materialized.
Nevertheless, speaking to 365 Scores, his father, who also represented Argentina during his playing career, downplayed the matter while acknowledging Liverpool has not yet initiated contact regarding the situation since last week's statements.
"No one from Liverpool's management has contacted us to renew his contract yet," Mac Allister's dad said.

"We have a contract that is valid, and we are committed to it with Liverpool, and if the club does not offer to renew the contract, it is their right.
"For now, Alexis has to give his best for the club in every game over the weekend.
"Alexis is not disappointed.
"This is a decision that the club makes, and we don't judge their decisions; we just prepare for what's to come."
Liverpool's Mac Allister also revealed last week that he had received offers to depart Anfield, conceding: "There was a chance [to leave], of course."
Rumors of potential interest from Real Madrid have since been firmly dismissed, with Mac Allister's father stating: "No one from Real Madrid has contacted us at any point in the entire career of Alexis."
The in-form Mac Allister has netted twice in his last two outings in Andoni Iraola's midfield and is set to feature when the unbeaten Reds travel to Bournemouth this Sunday.
Since joining Liverpool just over three years ago, Mac Allister has made more than 150 appearances for the club and won two trophies: the 2024 Carabao Cup and 2025 Premier League.
