The last weekend of Premier League football before the extended international break is nearly upon as, and that means our last FPL deadline until the middle of October – and the last time for a while that we’ll have to cope with the headache of planning transfers while waiting for injury news.

João Pedro, the most-owned player in Fantasy right now, is among the players who could miss out this weekend, and he’s just one of a number of potentially important FPL assets who might be stuck on the sidelines before the break.

With Friday evening’s deadline coming up at speed, we’ve collected all of the latest FPL injury news below – and we’ll be updating everything on Friday once the managers’ pre-match press conferences have provided us with some fresh information.

João Pedro: Let’s start at the top – even Erling Haaland isn’t in as many teams as the Chelsea forward, but he now looks set to miss Friday evening’s game against Brentford thanks to a knee injury. While Xabi Alonso hadn’t confirmed the 24-year-old’s absence at the time of writing, it has been announced that he’s withdrawn from the Brazil squad through injury. That strongly suggests that he’ll be sidelined this weekend, although we don’t know how serious the issue is as yet. Moisés Caicedo, incidentally, is also a major doubt.
Pedro Porro: Another potentially impactful injury worry hangs over the head of Spurs’ Porro. The Spaniard has missed his side’s last two matches and seems likely to be out for a third on the trot, although that’s not yet been confirmed by Roberto De Zerbi. One to keep an eye on in the press conferences, but he’s trending towards being out.
Antony Elanga: The Swede’s early-season form generated a bit of hype and a lot of speculative transfers, but Newcastle have now confirmed that he will be out for an extended period due to a hamstring injury. A specific return date hasn’t been provided yet, but we’re probably looking at six to eight weeks. Sell, sell, sell.
Cristhian Mosquera & Ben White: Players who have shares in Arsenal’s seemingly impenetrable defence should be aware than both Mosquera and White are major doubts for this weekend’s football.
Mikel Arteta has been deeply unhelpful in terms of specifics, but both have missed time due to muscular injuries and could well be out once again – perhaps he’ll drop a hint on Friday, but don’t count on it. Arteta likes to keep us in the dark.

Luke Shaw: The Manchester United left-back has missed three games thanks to an unspecified but allegedly minor muscular injury, and remains a doubt for the weekend – but hints from Michael Carrick’s comments suggest that there’s a fair chance he’ll be fit to face Fulham on Sunday. Trending towards playing, but watch this space and feel free to sell regardless given United’s recent form.
Matty Cash: Aston Villa have quite a few injury worries ahead of the weekend, the most Fantasy-relevant of which is wing-back Cash. He was due to come back from an unspecified muscular issue in midweek but tweaked something in the warm-up before Villa’s 3-1 win over Coventry City, and is back to being a significant doubt for the weekend. We don’t have enough information on his progress to forecast his availability.
Jack Hinshelwood: Fabian Hürzeler had hinted that the midfielder, who scored twice on the opening day before being laid low by an ankle injury, might make an unexpectedly early comeback before the international break – but he was still absent from the matchday squad for Wednesday's remarkable win over Manchester United. We’d assume that he misses out, and gets a second-half substitute appearances at best.
Emersonn: The budget-friendly Ipswich Town striker has been in just about enough form to be of Fantasy interest, but is flagged as a doubt after missing out on his side’s midweek match with what Gary O’Neil described as a tight quadriceps. It sounds as though he’s expected to play a full part over the weekend, however, so this doesn’t look like anything worth worrying about.
