Real Madrid star Rodrygo has reportedly decided that he will not be joining Arsenal when the January transfer window opens. The Gunners have previously been credited with an interest in signing the Brazilian as they looked to strengthen their forward options.

‌

Rodrygo’s future at Madrid has been the subject of speculation for some time and there were intense rumours that Arsenal could be a potential destination for the winger, particularly in the summer of 2025.

‌

In the end, Rodrygo remained at the Santiago Bernabeu and is currently on the sidelines recovering from a knee injury, which has kept him out since March.

‌

The 25-year-old is now stepping up his return to full fitness and is already seeing his future become a topic of uncertainty once again.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update on Rodrygo’s future, including Arsenal’s stance on a potential deal.

It has been reported by Romano on his YouTube channel that while Arsenal still have an admiration for Rodrygo, a move in January is not going to happen.

The report claims that Rodrygo is only focusing on his return from injury, with a potential return date of January being suggested, despite initial reports that February would be more likely.

Manchester City are also mentioned in the report as previously showing an interest in Rodrygo, but all the signs are pointing towards the Brazilian remaining with the La Liga giants for the rest of the season, at least.

Romano went on to say that it’s still “too early” to predict whether or not Rodrygo could leave Madrid next summer.

Arsenal were heavily linked with signing a new left winger this summer, having sanctioned the exits of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, as well as striker Gabriel Jesus.

Christos Tzolis was signed from Club Brugge, but the Gunners Arsenal wanted to sign another wide forward before the window closed earlier this month.

Mikel Arteta has also been using Ebere Eze in the left wing position this season, following the departures of Martinelli and Trossard, while Bruno Guimaraes has been added to the midfield options available to the Gunners boss.
