Bournemouth host Liverpool on Sunday as Andoni Iraola returns to the Vitality Stadium.
Last season Iraola led Bournemouth to Europa League qualification and their first-ever European campaign. But left for Liverpool over the summer. Still, he will get a warm reception from the Cherries faithful who will taste their first-ever European game away at Real Sociedad on Thursday. Marco Rose’s Bournemouth haven’t won in the league this season and have developed a nasty habit of chucking away points from winning positions, which they’ve done in all four games so far.
Liverpool beat Spurs on Tuesday to reach the last 16 of the League Cup as Iraola’s new side are still warming up to his intense playing style. They secured a big Champions League win against Atletico Madrid last week and they’re unbeaten in the league, but they’ve drawn three of their opening four games and [drew 0-0 at home against Fulham](https://www.nbcsports.com/soccer/live/liverpool-vs-fulham-live-updates-score-goals-highlights-stats-2026-september-12) last weekend.

It will be intriguing to see how much Rose rotates after Thursday’s Europa League exploits in Spain. Bournemouth’s squad isn’t massive and the likes of Alex Scott, Marcus Tavernier and Rayan are so important to the way they press and attack. The Cherries have to shore things up at the back a little and get the balance right, because they look so dangerous going forward.
**Liverpool team news**
-----------------------
Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni are long-term injury absentees, while Federico Chiesa is struggling with injury. Bradley Barcola, Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo will likely start in attack and all four have shown flashes of their brilliance but it has yet to click. Finding the right balance in midfield is key with Alexis Mac Allister pushing to start and Dominik Szobsozlai in fine form. Ronald Araujo has been playing well at right back as Liverpool have looked more solid in recent games.
**Bournemouth vs Liverpool prediction**

There should be plenty of goals here as Bournemouth’s high pressing will unsettle Liverpool, but it feels like this fine Liverpool offense will finally click on the counter. **_Bournemouth 2-4 Liverpool_**.
