`**Six games into the season and Everton are still unbeaten.**`
David Moyes’ side have played four times in the Premier League and twice in the Carabao Cup, winning three and drawing three. They have scored 10 goals, conceded only three and kept four clean sheets.
Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory over Wolves extended that record and secured a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, with substitute Charly Alcaraz scoring the winner 10 minutes from time.
Ipswich Town are next at the Hill Dickinson on Saturday and, while the season remains young, Everton have already shown they can find different ways to get a result.

The results have not all arrived in the same manner.
Crystal Palace were beaten 2-0 on the opening weekend before Everton eased past Preston 4-0 in the Carabao Cup. The next two league games required rather more persistence, with Moyes’ side drawing 1-1 at Bournemouth before twice coming from behind to earn a dramatic 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ equaliser against United did not arrive until the sixth minute of stoppage time, three minutes after Benjamin Sesko had appeared to win the game for the visitors.
Everton then had to withstand periods of pressure in the goalless draw at Tottenham before finding another route to victory against Wolves on Wednesday.
As the Liverpool Echo has noted, the encouraging feature of Everton’s start has been their ability to keep collecting results even when performances have not always been straightforward.
Four clean sheets in six games
The defensive record stands out. Everton have conceded just three times in six matches, with Crystal Palace, Preston, Tottenham and Wolves all failing to score against Moyes’ side.
The last two of those clean sheets came within five days of each other. Everton had to defend for long periods at Tottenham before Moyes changed his side for the midweek Carabao Cup tie.
Tyler Dibling produced one of his best Everton performances against Wolves and created the winner, finding Alcaraz before the Argentine turned away from Toti and finished past Joao Virginia.
The cup has already provided Moyes with an opportunity to use more of his squad, but Everton are not treating it merely as a chance to rotate. James Garner revealed this week that the players have discussed making a serious run at the Carabao Cup.
Newcastle United now stand between Everton and a place in the quarter-finals, with the fourth-round tie to be played at the Hill Dickinson.
Ipswich next for unbeaten Everton
Attention now returns to the Premier League, where Everton have won one and drawn three of their opening four matches.
There are still questions to answer. Three draws from four in the league means Moyes will want to start turning more of those performances into wins, while six games remain far too small a sample from which to make grand claims about the season ahead.
There have nevertheless been promising signs within the wider squad. Younger players have been given opportunities, with Braiden Graham among those pushing around the first-team group and Northern Ireland manager Michael O’Neill recently discussing the different roles the Everton teenager could eventually fill.
Stuart Attwell will referee Saturday’s game, with his appointment and record covered in our Everton v Ipswich officials piece.
Six games will not define Everton’s season, but there is no need to undersell what they have done so far either. Three wins, three draws, four clean sheets and no defeats represent a solid start.
Ipswich are next in line to try to end it.
