Arsenal confirm signing of talented striker of Nigerian descent from Liverpool
With a statement on their official website, Premier League champions Arsenal have confirmed the signing of teenage striker of Nigerian descent Vincent Joseph.
Joseph has joined the Gunners after turning down a scholarship deal at Liverpool.
The 16-year-old has joined Arsenal as part of their 2026-2027 intake of academy scholars.
Under Premier League regulations, all players in their U17 year must begin the season on a scholarship agreement before they are permitted to sign their first professional contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Joseph was courted by Manchester United but has decided to continue his development at Arsenal, where he will link up with England U16 teammate Emerson Nwaneri.
The Golden Eaglets-eligible forward will initially start his Arsenal career with the club's U18 squad, even though he is eligible to be feature in the Premier League and EFL Trophy.
Joseph has already made his debut in the U18 Premier League, scoring three goals in two appearances in his final season as a schoolboy.
He has notched an impressive eight goals in nine matches for England's U16 side.
